Taxation: An Overview

Taxes are one of the main sources of income for the Government and are used  for various public welfare and other projects run by the Government. The Tax System is mainly classified into Direct and Indirect taxes and  is further bifurcated into many heads of income. Income Tax is levied directly by the Government on the income of an Individual/ Non-individual and is governed by the Income Tax Act, 1961 in India. Income Tax is charged as per the slab rates prescribed as per the constitution of the tax payer in the Union budget every financial year.

The tax structure in India is divided into Direct Tax and Indirect Tax, each with its specific laws. The authority to levy taxes is clearly divided among Union Government, State Government and Local bodies. Over the years, Indian Taxation has gone through many changes, and it is an ongoing process.   • In case of corporate customers, please ensure that the tax payment is approved within 4 days of the transaction date, else the tax payment will expire.
  •  Your tax payment transaction would be subject to the Daily Debit Limit applicable on db OnlineBanking

Important Notice
With the introduction of Tin 2.0, effective February 28, 2024, direct tax payments ITNS280, ITNS281, and ITNS282 will be available via db OnlineBanking (Deutsche Bank’s online banking platform) and our branches if you choose to pay using payment channels like NEFT/ RTGS. Due to this change, we have discontinued our tie-up with our partner Bank to facilitate tax payments and hence manual services of direct and indirect tax payments initiated by Deutsche Bank India branches shall stand discontinued/ terminated.
We encourage you to take access rights, including registration of the requisite e-mail addresses at the TIN2.0 portal, to ensure a smooth and convenient experience for making your tax payments.
