How can the card be used at a Merchant Establishment?
To use your Debit Card at a Merchant Establishment:
Step 1: Look for the Visa, Visa Electron signs while shopping, dining or while on holiday.
Step 2: Buy whatever you want
Step 3: Make sure the cashier swipes the Card on the Electronic Terminal.
Step 4: Sign on the charge slip only after confirming the amount and details on the slip.
What are the charges for using the Signature Debit Card?
- There is no charge if the debit card is used at a Deutsche Bank ATM.
- There is no charge if the debit card is used at a retail outlet for purchases. However, for use at petrol pumps and railway stations, a surcharge of 2.5% of the purchase value shall be applicable as per industry standards. The surcharge of 2.5% on fuel purchases is waived for Deutsche Bank Signature Debit Cardholders.
- For transactions at VISA/PLUS ATMs, the following charges apply:

**Please note that these charges are not applicable for transactions at the ATMs of Global Alliance partners. You can access your account free of cost at these ATMs.
- The maximum petrol surcharge waiver per Deutsche Bank Signature Debit Card in a calendar month will be restricted to Rs. 500.
- In case customer has crossed the threshold of Rs. 500 in a calendar month, his / her account will be debited for the differential amount in the same month or in the subsequent month at the discretion of Deutsche Bank. In case sufficient balance is not available in the account to absorb the debit, in addition to exercise of other rights of Deutsche Bank, a lien will be marked in the customer's account and the debit will be posted as and when balance is available.

What are the daily limits on the debit card?
Deutsche Bank gives you the flexibility to decide the daily limit you want for transactions at ATMs and merchant establishments using your debit card. You have a choice of different daily limits in multiples of Rs 1,000 (maximum upto Rs 2,50,000) from which you can select your preferred option at the time of opening your account.
As per *RBI mandate of Enhancing Security of Card Transactions, all new debit cards will be active only for Domestic ATM & Physical POS transactions. You can activate/set limits for the ecommerce, contactless and International** transactions by logging into Deutsche Bank Online Banking or MyBank India app or by visiting the nearest branch or by contacting your Relationship Manager.

What should I do if I lose my debit card?
If you want to report the loss or theft of your debit card, please call our Phone Banking team at 1860 266 6601#
This number is the same across all cities in India. The Phone Banking number will be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The debit card will be deactivated as soon as you inform the Call Centre. This would prevent any misuse of the debit card.

What is Contactless card?
Contactless card is a new contactless method of payment using NFC (Near field communication) technology - the latest evolution in Visa payments. It is a simple, secure and quick payment method. The technology enables cardholders to 'wave' their card on a contactless Point-of-Sale (PoS) terminal to make transactions up to Rs. 5,000, rather than 'swiping' or 'dipping' their card into PoS terminals.
How many variants of contactless cards are available at Deutsche Bank?
Currently we have 2 variants of contactless cards issued by us. Signature cards and Infinite cards.
What is the transaction limit for a contactless transaction?
As per RBI guidelines, for transactions up to Rs. 5,000 made on a contactless enabled terminal, you do not need to enter the PIN, you simply wave the card at the reader.
How many contactless transactions are allowed in a day?
Deutsche Bank allows 2 contactless transactions per day domestic as well as International. This means a customer can do 2 contactless transactions within India and 2 contactless transactions outside India in a day
How does the technology work?
Contactless enabled cards have a tiny antenna embedded into the chip which securely transmits payment instructions to and from a specially adapted card terminal. These cards feature a distinctive contactless mark and PoS terminals for contactless cards will also feature this contactless symbol .

We're always looking for ways to make it easier for you. Introducing contactless-enabled Deutsche Bank debit cards will let you make quick and easy transactions. And we want clients to have access to the latest features and benefits.
How do I use my contactless card?
You can make contactless transactions by holding your card within 5cm of the secure contactless reader. You can then remove your card and the transaction will be complete. You can choose to have a receipt. It's optional.
How long does it take to read the card?
You'll be done before you can say ta-da. When you hold your card before a contactless reader, four green lights will appear. This takes no more than half a second.
Where can I use my contactless card?
You can use your contactless enabled card at any retailer displaying the contactless symbol at the point of sale in India and overseas.
What are the benefits of contactless card?
- A contactless enabled card is a quicker and more convenient way to pay
- It saves time on both sides of the counter, due to shorter transaction times and shorter queue times
- It's more convenient, as there is no need to worry about carrying around pockets of cash
- The card doesn't leave your hand at the checkout when making a contactless purchase
- There is no need to sign for transactions or enter a PIN for purchases to up Rs. 5,000
Can I still use my card the same way if I do not wish to wave and pay?
You can still use your contactless enabled card at ATM's and make POS transactions by entering your PIN. The contactless transaction limit is up to Rs. 5,000 per transaction, however you can still use your contactless card for any transaction over Rs. 5,000 by 'swiping' or 'dipping' the card using PIN or signature.
Can I choose not to have a contactless card?
All new and renewal Signature and Infinite cards automatically issued shall be VISA payWave-enabled debit cards. However, you have the option to not use the payWave functionality. You can still choose to 'swipe or dip' your card using a PIN or signature even if a payWave terminal is available.
Why do I not have a choice to select a contactless card or a non-contactless card?
There are many benefits associated with using contactless card in terms of ease of payment and its convenience. You can still choose to use your card in the way you are most comfortable with – whether by contactless, PIN or signature. You can be rest assured that with all transactions made using your contactless card are completely secure.

Can I use my contactless card overseas?
Yes, you can use your contactless card wherever the contactless symbol is displayed in India or overseas. The Visa contactless enabled card can be used for traditional transactions at millions of locations worldwide wherever the Visa logo is displayed, including over the internet. Remember to check your daily international ATM and POS limit by logging into myBank app or logging into eBanking or calling the Phonebanking.
Can I use my contactless card at retailers that do not have contactless terminals?
Yes, you can still use your contactless card, as the card's chip and magnetic stripe also allows the card to be used in the same way a traditional debit card is used, by using a signature or PIN.
What is the difference between payWave and PayPass?
payWave is the name of this technology for Visa cards, whereas PayPass is for MasterCard.
Can PayPass terminals accept payWave card payment?
Yes, you can use payWave cards on PayPass terminals.
Is there any chance that payments may be taken twice from my account?
No, contactless terminals are designed to only make one transaction per card at a time. All contactless terminals are tested and certified to confirm that a card is only read once, before the transaction is concluded. As a safeguard, each transaction must be complete or void before another one can take place.
How do I know when a payment has been made?
The transaction is confirmed by illumination of four green indicator lights and a display message confirming that the transaction has been successful.
Is the transaction information secure?
Yes, the transaction information is secure because contactless platform is based on secure EMV chip technology which provides both data protection and transaction security via the use of keys and the latest encryption technology. Transactions are processed through the same, reliable payment network as magnetic strip and chip transactions.
Is this technology as secure as my current Visa card?
Contactless enabled cards are just as secure as your current Visa debit card and carry the same multiple layers of security protection, which ensures members are not responsible for fraudulent or unauthorised transactions. The card never leaves your hands when making transactions, which reduces the risk of fraud.
Can I get cash out with a contactless transaction?
No, but if you would like to get cash out, you can withdraw cash using your debit card at any ATM.
Can I request a contactless card prior to the renewal of my existing card?
Yes, you can request a contactless card prior to the expiry of your existing card by logging into myBank app or logging into eBanking or by calling the phonebanking. You will receive your brand new contactless debit card at your registered communication the address with us.
Can my identity be stolen through the chip in my hand?
No. Only minimal account and information is stored on a contactless card, which is no more than traditional magnetic stripe cards or contact chip cards. Our contactless cards do not transmit the cardholder name or other personal details such as address or contact details, hence such information cannot be accessed by unauthorised methods.
